Abstract
In strapdown configuration, when the case of the gyroscope moves with the body with which it is attached, gyro rotor by virtue of its angular momentum stays at its place and acts as inertial reference. The rebalance loop using the output of pickoff generates torquer signals to bring back this rotor in alignment to the case. The current signal to the torquer is used as measurement of angular rate. In this paper a Strapdown Dynamically Tuned Gyroscope (DTG) is modeled using Newton’s laws of motion and then the model is verified by Euler-Lagrange formalism. The main parts of rebalance loop are described separately. The generalized model thus obtained is simulated and analysed for qualitative validation.
