Abstract
In this paper a state of the art discrete control system synthesizer is designed and developed using most modern graphical programming tool LabVIEW 7.0. The synthesizer is designed based on the concept of modular control design technique. In this synthesis, forty two new innovative virtual instruments (VIs) are developed for discrete state space modeling, controllability, observability, discrete pole placement controller, observer, pole assignment estimator based controller, reduced order observer, full order observer, current observer, reduced order controller, current observer based controller and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) optimal controller designs. These controllers and observers are designed for single input single output (SISO) systems. Synthesizer has interactive design features, computational features and graphical features for control systems design. The new developed design tool is fully functional and comparable with MATLAB built-in tools. The control synthesizer is designed with all features of simulation control and data recording facility. The control synthesizer is an integration of different control modules which forms a full control systems simulator. The performance of the synthesizer is tested for various order systems, standard test input signals and specially design test input signals. In this paper, the performance of the synthesizer is evaluated for second order control rod system of nuclear power plant and found excellent.
