Abstract
The current article reports the synthesis of Ag-Zn bimetallic nanoparticles (BNPs) through a simple, eco-friendly chemical reduction method and their application in electrochemical sensing of Eriochrome Black T (EBT), a hazardous dye discharged from textiles and industries. Various physio-chemical techniques such as UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Zeta Sizer, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) were used to confirm BNPs morphology, composition and structure. The electrochemical studies using Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) revealed high sensitivity, stability and reproducibility of the sensor toward EBT dye detection. The study demonstrates Ag-Zn BNPs as a promising low-cost and reliable sensing material for environmental monitoring of toxic dyes in wastewater.
