Abstract
Using first principles calculations, we investigate the effects of an electric field and strain on the electronic and optical properties of the Janus monolayer InSSe. Our calculations reveal that the InSSe monolayer has an indirect band gap of 1.61 eV. The band gap of the InSSe monolayer is sensitive to both the electric field and strain, indicating a noticeable enhancement in the electronic structure and optical properties. We observe a sharp increase in the absorption spectra within the visible light region of the Janus monolayer InSSe, accompanied by a shift in the position of the absorption peaks due to changes in strain. This work suggests that the monolayer InSSe exhibits tunable electronic and optical properties, making it a promising candidate for optoelectronic device applications.
