Abstract
Dalbergia species are important timber trees. Studies were carried out for identification and genetic relationships of these species to evaluate genetic diversity with in the population by using Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA markers. These forest trees were studied having morphologically different characters, i.e., dark green (healthy), yellowish green (diseased) trees. The total eight tree samples were selected to check the genetic divergence within the selected germplasm. During analysis 25 screened polymorphic RAPD primers were used, and 109 fragments were polymorphic among the above referred timber species which indicated 49.8 polymorphism. The cluster analysis developed two groups, Dalbergia dark green (healthy) and Dalbergia yellowish green (diseased). Maximum genetic relationship was found between the Pop-4 and Pop-6, and Pop-3 and Pop-7 in these groups respectively. The RAPD markers have the potential for conservation of identified clones and characterization of genetic relatedness with in the population of the above referred important timber species.
