Abstract
Trifolium repens L. is a grass belonging to family Fabaceae (also called Leguminosae). It goes by many names like Dutch clover, white clover, white trefoil, honeysuckle clover, ladino clover and creeping trifolium. Besides being utilized as food and feed, it also has pharmaceutical uses as anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic, insecticidal, antidepressant, anti-aging, analgesic etc. These medicinal properties are due to presence of flavonoids, saponins, flavanols, isoflavonoids and other metabolites. The objective of current study was to identify anticancer proteins from proteome of T. repens using bioinformatics tools. The entire proteome of T. repens was acquired from NCBI, followed by prediction of anticancer activity via ACPred and validated with iACP and iACP-FSCM tools. The proteins having anticancer activity were evaluated via ProtParam to determine their half-life, molecular weight, theoretical pI, stability index, aliphatic index and gravy. These proteins were docked using Swiss Dock with human PD-L1 protein (A protein which prevents T cells from killing other cells including cancer cells). Six anticancer proteins were noted with ideal physico-chemical properties and good interaction with PD-L1. This means these proteins can be used in immunotherapy for various cancers. These proteins can be evaluated further for their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics for development of plant based anticancer therapeutics.
