Abstract:

A new trinortriterpenoid limbonin alongwith known tetranortriterpenoids, epoxyazadiradione and azadiradione has been isolated from the neutral fraction of the kernel of Azadirachta indica and its structure elucidated through chemical and spectral studies. Two dimensional NMR studies of epoxyazadiradione and azadiradione have also been made. Pesticidal activity of the crude ethanolic extract have been studied and compared with that of margosan-o and malathion. Azadiradione and epoxyazadiradione have been tested for antibacterial activity.
