Abstract:
This study was done to determine the trend of Maxillo Facial Trauma at Maxillo Facial Surgery department of Liaquat Medical College Hospital, Hyderabad-Sindh. The majority of patients were referred from interior of Sindh. A total of 230 patients with fractures of jaws were admitted in Maxillo Facial Surgery Ward during February 1985 to June, 1992. 80.4% were mandibular fractures followed by 8.6% Maxillary and 8.3% of Dentoalveolar whereas, 4.3% were of both maxilla and mandible while 3% showed Zygomatic bone fractures. The main etiological factor leading to the injury were recorded as road traffic accidents (65.3%), falls (23.7%), gun shot (8.3%), fight (1.6%) and pathological (0.8%).
