Abstract:

OMV (Pakistan) Exploration G.m.b.H has been in Gas Exploration business in Pakistan for the last 13 years. OMV is the “Operator” of the Sawan Gas Field, located in the Thar Desert, 80 km to the South-East of Sukkur city in the Sindh province of Pakistan. Sawan Gas Field wells are feeding raw gas through dedicated flow lines to the existing Central Processing Plant (CPP). The plant consists of two trains designed for gas treatment by mainly gas sweetening and water / hydrocarbon dew-pointing systems to achieve sales gas quality. There are six Lean Amine Pumps are being operated at high pressure and temperature and playing vital role in the purification system of raw gas. Amine solution circulation depends upon the smooth operation and safe healthy condition of these pumps. Failure of pump casing material faced to OMV Sawan Gas Field within short period since commissioning and main focus diverted to solve the problem and determine the root cause for avoiding such undesirable conditions in future.
