Abstract:
Quantitative determination of iron, zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, nickel and cobalt was carried out in the meat of various organs and tissue of different animals by using atomic absorption spectrophotmetry. In general, buffalo and cow meat contains more trace metals compared to the most of other animals. Older animals were found to contain more trace metals in meat than younger ones. Spleen and liver concentrate have larger amounts of all the trace metals than heart, lungs, kidneys and other organs. Iron occurs in highest amounts, in all organs in all animals, followed by zinc. Other metals are present in very small amounts, chromium, nikel and cobalt are present in most organs in less than one part per million.
