Abstract:
Morpho-anatomical characterization of macro-fungi is essential because it has significant impact on man and other living organisms. Mycoflora is valuable in terms of mychorrhizal association, edibility and its medicinal use. This research deals with morpho-anatomical characterization of macro-fungi collected from district Lahore, Pakistan. 5% KOH and Congo red stain is used in morphological characterization. Anatomical characterization was done under compound microscope “eurromexbscope S/N-EU2230497”. Computer- based software “Motic Image Plus” version 2.0 was used for the measurement of anatomical features. Morpho-anatomical characterization and comparison with published literature helped to reveal that collected basidiomata belong to 8 families, 15 genera and 19 species. Out of 19 species 8 belong to family Agaricaceae; Agaricus, Hymenagaricus, 5 species of Lepiota, Leucoagaricus, Micropsalliota, 3 belong to family Pluteaceae; Pluteus, 2 species of Volvariella, 1 belong to family Inocybaceae; Inocybe, 1 belong to family Psathyrellaceae;Psathyrella, 2 belong to family Lyophollaceae; Hypsizygus, Termitomyces, 2 belong to family Polyporaceae; Ganoderma, Trametes, 1 belong to family Meripilaceae; Grifola and1 belong to family Entolomataceae; Entoloma. This study shows that Lahore is floristically rich area in terms of macro-fungal diversity. This research provides a baseline to researchers for the characterization of species on the basis of morpho-anatomical characterization. Therefore, this research recommends further molecular and phylogenetic research on macro- fungi of district Lahore, Pakistan.
