Abstract:
Pure lead dioxide, arsenic and bismuth doped lead dioxide electrodes can be prepared from acetate or nitrate media by electrodeposition on to vitreous carbon substrate. The electrochemical anodic behaviour of lead dioxide, arsenic and bismuth doped lead dioxide electrodes have been investigated for anodic oxidation of n-butanol in sulphuric acid electrolytes. The activity and electrochemical anodic behaviour of these doped electrodes depend on preparation and pretreatment. Steady-state potentiostatic experimental techniques have been employed to investigate the behaviour and the activity of lead dioxide, arsenic and bismuth doped lead dioxide electrodes in acidic media. The activity of lead dioxide, for anodic oxidation of n-butanol in sulphuric acid electrolytes, is influenced by the presence of arsenic and bismuth ions.
