Abstract:
The distribution of isomers in mononitratibn of chrorobenzene is shown to be dependent upon the temperature of the reaction mixture and the physical properties of the solvents involved. An empirical model which relates the isomer ratio with the dipole moments and dielectric constants of the solvents has been derived. Based on this observation, a study into the effect of electric field on the distribution of isomers in continuous mononitration of chlorobenzene has been undertaken.
