Abstract:

Calculations based on X-ray projection studies showed that (indoly1-3) phenyliodonium trifluoroacetate is a T-shaped molecule. Taking into account the two lone electron pairs the molecule assumed a trigonal bipyramidal structure, the indolyl group and two lone electron pairs on the equatorial positions, the phenyl ring and trifluoroacetate ion at the apices.
