Abstract:
Research studies were carried out to evaluate the effect of Magnesium on the vegetative growth and yield of tomatoes in plastic pots at Budapest, Vegetable Research Station, Hungary. The experiment was splitted in four treatments viz. Control, 50, 100 and 250 ppm. Magnesium sulphate MgSO4. The results indicated that in the initial stage of plant growth there was no any significant effect of various doses of MgSO4 on the growth of plants. However after an average period of 71 days of transplantation, the plant height, number of leaves and number of branches per plant were recorded significantly higher under 250 PM of MgSO4 dose. The comparison of mean values indicated that the yield per plant received 100 ppm MgSO4 was higher than the remaining two treatments and the control statistically non-significant.
