Abstract:
Survival and moisture loss of workers and soldiers of Heterat-ermes indicola (Wasmann) when kept isolated and in groups at different relative humidities under starvation conditions were studied. Both the cases survived best at 97 percent relative humidity. The loss of body weight was positively correlated with the survival of the individuals. The workers in groups lived longer as compared to the isolated ones, whereas the survival of the soldiers decreasedwhen kept in groups.
