Abstract:
There are many aspects of the Islamic moral and social order that comprise complex knowledge systems for practice of Islamic pursuits. Inheritance system, Zakat system, Islamic business handling and Hadith classification are a few examples of such aspects. Inheritance system in Islam is considered one of the most difficult problems to tackle. Most Muslims cannot cope with such problems. Expert Systems techniques, one of the most economically rewarding areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) today, are studied with an objective to apply those in this unexplored complex field. Authors have done this to dispell the misconception that these techniques are useful only for modem business/commercial systems. This paper discusses the formalization of the Expert System application of Islamic law of inheritance, with emphasis of FIQAH HANIFIA (MILES-Muslim Inheritance Law Expert System).
