Abstract:
The present study, conducted between 1st July, 1976 and 30th June, 1982 is a comprehensive report about the incidence of different species of helminths of cattle and buffaloes of Lahore area. In total, 1773 buffaloes and 726 cattle of different age, sex, breed and weight were examined. All of the animals were suspected for helminthic infestation and were forwarded to Parasitology Department for fecal examination. The % rate of infestation, on average basis, per year was found to be the highest for trematod-.es (35.76% in buffaldes and 38.01% in cattle) and lowest for Cestod-es (0.50% in buffaloes and 0.27% in cattle) whereas it was 12.79% in buffaloes and 5.09 % in cattle for Nematodes. The parasites identified were: Fasciola Spp, Neoascaris vitulorum; Paramphist omum cervi; Dictyocaulus spp, Moniezia expansa, Trichuris spp, H a-emonchus spp and Monizia benedeni. Relative occurrences are discussed.
