Abstract:
When 6-chlorosulphonyl coumarin (2) was reacted with amines the derivatives (3) were formed. Condensation of 2 with N,N-dimethylhydrazine and hydrazine hydrate afforded the hydrazides (4,5); N-methylhydrazine gave a mixture of the N(1)- and N(2)-methylhydrazides (8,7). 3-(N-phenylcarboxamido) coumarin (9) reacted with chlorosulphonic acid to yield the R-sulphonyl chloride (10). Subsequent treatment with nucleophilic reagents afforded the derivatives (11,12,13). The spectral properties of the compounds are briefly discussed.
