Abstract:
This study was undertaken in Punjab to determine the critical competencies needed by an effective Veterinary Officer. Analysis of data collected from 110 randomly selected veterinarians revealed that a large majority was of the view that their working efficiency could be enhanced by offering short courses in the subject of veterinary science for surgical and diagnostic techniques and animal reproduction. Imparting in service training to Veterinary Officers and provision of professional literature were the common suggestions.
