Abstract:
Ethylene formation from acetylene and hydrogen has been studied in the temperature range 30-60C over Pd-CaCO3 catalyst partially deactivated by Pb and quinoline. The suitable design equation for the rate of formation of ethylene in this temperature range is rC=Kc PC2H2PH2/P2C2H4, the activation energy being 4.6 kcal per mole. Product gas containing C 2112 and H2 obtained by the pyrolysis of natural gas will constitute a suitable feed for this process.
