Abstract:
The females of the red cotton bug Dysdercus cingulatus were treated with 5mg/mland 10mg/m1 of BHC. The larger dose acted more rapidly but both the doses showed the same toxic effects three hours after the treatment. Out of all the cell types cystocyteslysed, immediately and disappeared resulting in the vacuolization and coagulation of plasma. Granular cells, oenocytoids, plasmatocytes and many spherue cells underwent intensive vacuolization and released their contents in the plasma. The remainder of the spherule cells tranformed themselves into slender threads in which other haemocytes became agglutinated. Prohaemocytes were not seen at all.
