Abstract:
A study was conducted to compare the efficacy of some insecticides on cotton crop at Adaptive Research Farm Rahim Yar khan during 2010 and 2011 against cotton Jassid Amrasca devastans (Dist.). Experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Eight insecticides viz: Imadicloprid 20 SP (625 g ha-1), confider 200SL (625 ml ha-1), Acetamiprid 20SP (375 g ha-1), Acetamiprid 20SL (375 ml ha-1), Acephate 75 SP (875 g ha-1) chlorfenypar (Pirate) 360SC (250 ml ha-1), Actara WP (60 g ha-1) and Dimethoate 40 EC (1000 ml ha-1) were evaluated for their efficacy against cotton Jassid. Acephate 75 SP and Dimethoate40 EC proved to be the most effective in reducing Jassid population below ETL (Economic Threshold Level) (1/ leaf) up to seven days after application during both years. Maximum yield was obtained by Acephate (75 SP) during both the year’s i.e 2832 kg ha-1 in 2011 and 3588 kg ha-1 in 2010.
