Abstract:
Chemical composition, physical strength and wrapping quality of leaves of H. adenophyllum were studied and compared with the properties of D. melanoxylon. Similar ingredients were found in both the leaves. The flexibility for rolling of H. adenophyllum leaves is mainly due to Ca content. No toxic ingredients were found in the analysis. It is, therefore, recommended that H. adenophyllum leaves may be used for bidi manufacture in Pakistan.
