Abstract:

new generalized method for the synthesis of various anticholesteramic and antilipemic alkyl 2-(4-benzoylphenoxy)-2-methylpropanoates has been described. Different 2-methyl-2-phenoxy-propanoates synthesized from phenol are coupled with substituted benzoyl chlorides to yield the title compounds in overall good yields. Also, a mechanism for the synthesis of 2-methyl-2-phenoxy-propanoates from phenol is proposed.
