Abstract:
During the survey of free-living marine nematodes in the coastal area of Karachi, two new species of the family Cyatholaimidae were encountered from intertidal zone of the Sandspit beach, Karachi which are described and illustrated herein. Marylynnia musharafii n. sp. differs from all the other species of the genus by having a large amphid and long labial setae. Paracanthonchus sandspitensis n. sp., is closely related to P. longicaudatus Warwick, 1971 and P. heterodontus Schulz, 1932. From the former it differs in more anterior amphids, position of preanal tubules 2 + 3 than 3 + 2 supplements and shorter tail. From the latter it differs in having longer cylindrical part of tail as compared to almost conoid tail end in P. heterodontus.
