Abstract:
A field experiment was carried out during 2002-2003 to investigate the response of wheat yield components to nitrogen application at the Agricultural Research Station of Gonbad, Iran with a mean annual precipitation of 453 mm. Subtropical wheat variety of Kohdasht was sown with four levels of nitrogen as no-nitrogen fertilization (N0), net nitrogen of 30 (N1), 60 (N2) and 90 (N3) kg ha-1 with four replications. Agronomic traits and yield components were positively influenced by nitrogen application. Increasing nitrogen from 60 to 90 kg ha-1 did not increase theses characteristics further. Based on simple models, the yield could be predicted under such environments that need further testing on large scale.
