The Role of Information Quality and Source Credibility in Promoting Public Engagement via Chinese Government TikTok in Public Health Emergencies

Abstract:
Social media has been widely used by governments in public health emergenci to explain critical situations in a timely manner, provide health information, a encourage public engagement. Public engagement via Chinese government social media is challennggi during a crisis. The study specifically investigates the impact of information quality, source credibility on public engagement through government social media, and the mediating role of trust. The elaboratio likelihood model provided the theoroeutincdaaltiofn for this study. The data in this study was collected from youths-40agewdith18TikTok accounts in Hebei Province, China. The findings showed that information quality and source credibility have a significantly positive relationship weinthgagpemubelnict via the Chinese government's TikTok. Findings also revealed that there was mediating effect of trust in the relationship between source credibility, information quality, and public engagement via government TikTok.
