Abstract:
To study the economic feasibility of growing potato and raya in inter row spaces of autumn cane, experiments were conducted during 1984-87. Raya was used both as seed and fodder crop while potato was planted in inter row spaces of 90 cm, 120 cm and 120-60- 120 cm, intercropping treatments were also compared with sole crops of potato and raya followed by spring cane. Potato intercropping gave increased number of millable canes, followed by increase in cane yield over sole crop of cane. Raya had depressing effect on the cane formation and cane yield. Intercropping potato in autumn cane at 90 cm was better than all other cropping systems tried. for land equivalent ratio, net return and monetary advantage.
