Abstract:
Stereo technique was used to count the number of particles in the soot aggregates, a procedure made possible by being able to see the aggregates in three dimensions. The following relationship was established between the number of particles in an aggregate and its relative projected area: N = 1.9 (A/a)0.92 A simple computer model based on a random collision mechanism for the simulation of soot aggregates was also used. The results from the programme were used to construct real models containing 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 polystyrene bolls.
