Abstract:
The effect of phosphatic fertilizer on the yield and quality of sugarbeet was studied at the Sugar Crops Research Station, Mardan, in the Peshawar Valley. Highest root yield of 65.97 tons/ha was obtained when P2 Os was applied at the rate of 112 kg/ha. The average pol percentage increased from 12.46 in the control treatment to 13.37 in T4 (224 P2 Os /ha). The application of fertilizer not only improved the quality of beet but also resulted in the early maturity, which facilitated early slicing by about a fortnight.
