Abstract:
This paper presents a Knowledge Based Flexible Manufacturing System planning (KBFMSP) methodology. The KBFMSP is one of the modules of Knowledge Based Flexible Manufacturing System Design (KBFMSD) which is able to design a complete FMS. The KBFMSP is an integrated model of demand information, part type information, machine information, material handling information and networking information. All of the sub models of the KBFMSD are mainly used for acquiring information (data and text) from the user. The KBFMSP methodology is developed using AM: an expert system shell.
