Abstract:
Natural history studies conducted in the Cholistan Desert reveal that the desert once flourished with agriculture and forest. The tectonic activity, extreme climatic conditions, changing river course and shifting of the river and Arabian desert sand converted the area into desert. The presence of large number of fresh water mollusc shells and trees near Tobas reflect the prosperous environmental conditions of the area in the near past.
