Abstract:
The solution of stiff system of differential equations contains slowly as well as fast decaying component. The numerical method with finite stability regions are therefore not suitable for solving such systems. One is therefore interested in methods which are absolute stable in the left-half complex plane or in at least an infinite portion of it. ln this work 4 cyclic 4-step A-stable methods of order two are constructed. It seems that the methods of order higher than two may not be possible. The methods are applied to stiff and non-stiff problems. The numerical results are then compared with some published results.
