Abstract:
Different soil formation processes give rise to different kinds of soils. A study of these processes is useful both pedologically and agriculturally, because one may diagnose future changes in a soil profile due to a certain operative soil forming process. A study of a few important soil torming processes in Quetta-Pishin area has been described here. The authors carried out soil survey and collected soil samples from the area. Soil profile characteristics and laboratory data of Maslakh, Quetta and Popalzai soil series are given and discussed. The study revealed that calification, homogenisation and salinization were the predominant processes responsible for characterisation of the given soils. The study also points out that topography and parent material often predominate other soil forming factors in the area.
