Abstract:
Virulent and, hypo virulent isolates of Fusarium oxysporum. Sp. ciceris (FOC) produced both pectin `lyase` (PL) and polygalacturonase ‘(PG)’ activities on minimal medium containing citrus pectin. The less virulent local isolates produced very high PL activities as compared to the highly virulent isolates, while higher P.G activities were produced by the virulent isolates of FCC. Higher phytotoxicity of the culture filtrates of highly virulent, isolates revealed that the PG activities might have a role in the virulence of FOC.
