Abstract:

The crown of the tooth is removed up to about 2 mm above the marginal gingiva. The roots are then loosened in all directions. The interdental septum between the roots should be removed first and if the root cannot be withdrawn at this stage a little substance from the root should be taken away. After the luxation the roots can be withdrawn towards the occlusal plane. Post-operative treatment is discussed.
