Abstract:
100 cases of tetanus are reported. The effectiveness of higher doses of A.T.S. and of regular adequate doses of penicillin demonstrated. Emphasis is laid on commencing the treatment in full doses at the earliest, and administering the anticonvulsants at regular intervals. The importance of realizing the danger of tetanus from ear and nose prick, Chr.S.O.M. use of unhygenic pads, during menses, small superficial apparently non-visible healed abrasions and vaginal manipulations by untrained women, is shown. Not a single patient in this study was given muscle relaxant and intermittent positive pressure respiration.
