Abstract:
Cryptands 2:2 (1), 2:1 (2), and 2:2:2 (3) have been used as carriers for transporting sodium, potassium, ammonium, and methyl ammonium salts of various nitro-phenols across and organic membrane. The cryptands 2:2 and 2:1 are found efficient in transporting ammonium cations as compared to all other ions, cryptand 2:1 being more efficient, overall. It is observed that 4-nitropheno late salts are better transported than other nitrophenolate salts used in this study.
