Abstract:
Weeds grow excessively in plantations due to favourable water conditions. They have an adverse effect on the growth of plants. The most dangerous weed in irrigated plantations is Saccharum bengalense. The methods of weed control in forests by silvicultural and mechanical eradication and through the application of chemicals (weedicides) have been described. Trials conducted at Daphar with Lignopur F Pantopur and Paraquat on Cannabis, Chino podium, Saccharum and Phragmites along with the economics of the operations have been mentioned. The experiments and results have been given in 16 tables.
