A comparative study of medical complications in pregnant women aged 21-34 years to those aged 35 years and above.

Abstract:
An observational study was carried out to compare the prevalence of medical complications in pregnant women aged 21-34 years and those pregnant women who were above 35 years of age. All antenatally booked as well as unbooked patients examined over a period of one year were included in the study. It was found that the prevalence of obesity, chronic hypertension, diabetes and preeclampsia was significantly higher in pregnant women aged 35 years and above while discrepancy in the prevalence of cardiac disease, jaundice & eclampsia in both groups was statistically not significant.
