Abstract:
For the purpose of deducing a suitable plot size and shape, an experiment was conducted on tobacco variety coker 254 in Agricultural Research Institute, Tarnab in 1977. The produce of 960 small units of size 5`x7` were available. The co-efficient of variation was worked out for each plot size and it was noted that great changes in fertility between plot to plot and row to row was a disturbing factor and the repetition was decided to be done next year. The land has been regularly under Tobacco rotation in the preceding years, which was used for the experiment. Methods of cultivation and other operations were the same all over the area. The analysis of variance in yield has been worked out for (1) between blocks, (2) within blocks. Co-efficient of variaion and its standard error have been calculated for each plot size in various sub-blocks.
