3D-printed dental materials: Revolutionizing customized solutions in orthodontics and prosthodontics; A comprehensive systematic analysis

Abstract:
Objective: To determine whether the use of 3D-printed dental materials influences the degree of accuracy in the treatment of diseases within the fields of prosthodontics and orthodontics for patients as well as the efficiency of clinical operations. Methodology: The study used evidence from scientific journals only for the period from the year 2016-2024 employing systematic review approach using Pubmed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. The outcomes of the reviewed articles compared material properties, compatibility with the patient, clinical effectiveness, biocompatibility, and the ability of 3D-printed dental appliances to be used for orthodontics and prosthodontics. The first step changed into initiated through a database search within the electronic databases from identified sources with eighty-nine articles recognized and fifty-six were selected to be incorporated in to the review while twelve were comprehensively assessed on material per-formance treatment customization plus implementation challenges. Results: The study has pointed out that the treatments arrived at by the help of 3D printed materials were more accurate and satisfaction for the patients increased whi-le the time for production was lesser. The major chal-lenges for adopting 3D printing have been faced by the issues in material endurance besides the problems of financial constraints and regulatory requirements. Conclusion: 3D printing provides well-fitting and optimized dental fixtures for orthodontics and prostho-dontics. Therefore, there needs to be laid down guide-lines for clinical application of 3D printing technology.
