Abstract:
Nine Districts of the total rice area in the Northern and Southern Zones of West Pakistan were stratified on the basis of the previous years rice area sown, into 88 strata of approximately 24,000 acres each. One village was selected from each stratum. The variety-wise stratum estimates of rice have been obtained by multiplying the raising factor with the area sown during Kharif 1965 under the particular variety of rice in the selected village of the respective stratum and raising factor for any village, by dividing total rice area sown in Kharif 1964 of the stratum with that of the selected village of the respective stratum. The varietal estimates for the Zones are obtained by summing up the respective estimates of the constituent strata. The estimate of the ratio of each variety in a zone has been obtained by dividing the area sown under a specific variety of rice with total area sown of rice in the zone.
