Abstract:
Coronene (I) has been oxidized to corono-1,2-quinone (II) with sodium dichromate in acetic acid. Nitrocoronene (III), on oxidation in a similar manner, furnished nitrocorono-1,2-quinone (IV) which in turn was converted into quinoxaline derivative (Y) with o-phenylenediamine. Corono-1,2-quinone (II) has been nitrated to dinitrocorono-1,2-quinone (VI) and trinitrocorono-1,2-guinone (VII).
