Abstract:
Effect of two systematic weedicides (1) Planotox (2,4-Dester), and (2) Fernoxone (2,4-D Sodium salt) in different concentrations was studied on six weeds Asphodelus tenuifolius Cay., Polygonum plebegum L., Argemone maxicana L., Convolvulus arvensis L., Chenopodium album L. & Sonchus oleraceous L. which generally grow in the wheat fields. The wheat crop was grown in the second week of Nov. 1966 with weeds. The weedicides were sprayed on weeds when the wheat crop was 5-8 inches in height. The population of plants before and after spraying was recorded. Both the weedicides were quite effective with lethal effects. For the control of the weeds, Planotox proved to be significantly better. Low concentration was more economical for the control of weeds and more effective for increased production wheat.
