Taxonomic study of the order Chlorococcales (Volvophycota) from Peshawar valley.

Abstract:
From a collection of unicellular green algae of the order Chlorococcales from various localities of Peshawar Valley, 33 taxa containing 24 species belonging to 4 genera of the order Chlorococcales, phylum Volvophycota were identified. Among them, 24 taxa including 17 species belonging to the genus Tetraedron were most dominant. Furthermore, 4 species belonging to the genus Oocystis, 2 to Ankistrodesmus and I species of Closteriopsis were also observed. Apart from that, pH of the water and season of their occurrence were also determined.
