Abstract:
Intestine of Arius Serratus infected with nematode larvae was observed for the damage caused by the parasite. For this purpose selected pieces of intestine were fixed in Bouin`s fluid and processed for block making by standard procedure. Six to eight micron thick sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin by routine methods. Microphotographs of` selected portions of the sections were taken using Agfa color film and Nikon (Optiphot-2) Photomicroscope. Observations revealed severe damage to the intestine specially the villi and lamina propria where several sections of the nematode larvae were present. The epithelial linings of villi were dislocated with necrosis of villi and underlying tissue. Infiltration of inflammatory cells was also obvious. Villi were flattened and at several places fused together loosing the upright-position Erosion of villi also occurred in the severely affected areas.
