Abstract:
Propositional logic has inherent limitations of expression. Human interaction with the real world is seldom based on strict 'yes/no' decisions; indecisiveness and inexactness surround much of human reasoning and dealing. Fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic are powerful mathematical tools designed to deal with both well defined and not so well defined concepts and ideas. Through this article an effort has been made to introduce to the reader the basics of this seemingly novel approach.
