Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate the economics of canola (Brassica campestris) intercropping with sunflower (Helianthus annuus) at Agronomic Research Institute, AARI, Faisalabad during 1997-98 to 1999-2000. Three years average results revealed that intercropping of canola with sunflower sown at 100 cm apart rows in 2" d fortnight of October gave higher gross economic returns of Rs. 29957 per hectare. Maximum land equivalent ratio (1.75) and benefit cost ratio (4.17) was observed in this case. So the intercropping of canola with sunflower in comparison with sole conventional sown sunflower crop at 75 cm inter row space enhanced the per unit income by about 21.9 percent. The intercropping also increased the per unit income by about 34 percent over sole conventional canola crop.
